Dear Alton Darby Families –
Kids EdCamp was a huge success today!  I would like to thank all of the teachers and support staff at Alton Darby and Darby Creek for helping create such a memorable day today.  Please take a moment to ask your child about what they learned this morning!
Also, please check out the video about Kids EdCamp that a group of students from “Reporting 101″ helped put together today: http://bit.ly/1snzOQk

Dear Alton Darby Families,

This month I want to share with you a vision we have for the student experience at Alton Darby Elementary. We believe that it’s important for all of our students to have the chance to explore new opportunities for learning, as well as provide them with support to discover their passion and what allows them to work towards their dreams.

Last month, we modeled for students what it’s like to act on a dream and joined Darby Creek Elementary to create a giant dot with 900+ students in celebration of International Dot Day. (Please go to http://goo.gl/pTWTD6 to see a video of the event!) On October 4, we will continue that same collaborative effort with Darby Creek Elementary as we host the AD/DC Warrior Dash. This fun event is truly a unique learning opportunity for our kids. And finally on October 10, we will hold our first Kids’ EdCamp with Darby Creek Elementary—35 unique learning sessions for students to choose from, providing them with a chance to learn in a unique way.

We’re excited to be providing these learning experiences for our students and to be trying new approaches in helping students develop as learners.  We look forward to providing more experiences throughout the rest of the school year.

All the best to you and your family,

Herb Higginbotham
