Schools Host Visitors From Hong Kong
Students and staff members from three Hilliard City Schools are hosting 24 students and four teachers from Hong Kong. Twelve elementary students and two teachers arrived on January 19 and will be staying with families in the Alton Darby (ADE) and Hoffman Trails (HTE) elementary schools until January 30. Twelve high school students and two teachers arrived on January 21 and are staying with host families from Hilliard Bradley High School (HBR) until February 1.
Planned community activities such as miniature golf and bowling allow the host families and visiting students time to interact with each other while other school activities such as assemblies and basketball games provide a snap-shot of life in an American school for the Hong Kong visitors. The visiting students will shadow their Hilliard Schools hosts during the school day including navigating the lunch room and attending classes. “This is a great opportunity for us to not only showcase the excellence that is Hilliard City Schools to other parts of the world, but to also enjoy this cultural exchange and learn about the educational practices of both students and teachers in Hong Kong,” said Assistant Superintendent Leslie McNaughton.
Kindergarten pre-registration for the 2012-13 school year
The Hilliard City School District will hold its annual Kindergarten pre-registration for the 2012-2013 school year on Wednesday, January 18, 2012 at 7:00 pm. If your child will be five years of age on or before September 30, 2012, he/she is eligible to start kindergarten during the 2012-2013 school year.
