2015/16 Kindergarten Registration Starts January 5

The Hilliard City School District will begin Kindergarten registration on Monday, January 5, 2015 for the 2015-2016 school year.  If your child will be five years of age on or before September 30, 2015, he/she is eligible to start kindergarten next school year.  Parents can click here beginning January 5 to complete online registration and sign up for a registration appointment using the online tool “SignUp Genius”.
Please don’t delay. Appointment times fill up quickly and this will give you a better opportunity to get you’re AM/PM preference and a screening time that works well for you.  Parents will be given the option to upload their documentation with the online registration form.  Parents with students already enrolled in Hilliard City Schools will have the option to schedule a phone conference.  New parents to our district will need to make an appointment to come to our Welcome Center at 2140 Atlas Street, Columbus.
Please make a note that Alton Darby Elementary will be holding its assessment day on Tuesday, August 4, where we’ll invite our new kindergarteners and their parents to come to school and meet their teacher before their first day of school (August 25).

December Newsletter

Dear Alton Darby Families:

This month I wanted to share with you a little about me as a learner. I have been on this incredible journey of reflection and learning since getting involved with social media in 2010 when I joined Twitter. When I first started using Twitter, I didn’t get it. Who really cares what anyone ate for dinner last night? But as I became connected to more and more educators, business leaders and others who were interested in education, I began to see the value of this platform. I had access to so many new ideas about what we can do for kids as educators, and having that kind of access to ideas has helped me grow as an educator. I continue to interact with others on Twitter, and do what I can to contribute to the conversation. Being connected to so many people across the world continues to be an amazing experience and continues to help me grow as a learner and as a leader.

I also believe that we can use these platforms to share our stories of learning each and every day at Alton Darby Elementary. We want our parents, our community members, and the world to know about the great things that are taking place each day. So if you’ve been reluctant to join in the conversation on social media, let me suggest that you give it a try! Connect with the school at twitter.com/AltonDarby and connect with me at twitter.com/HHigginbotham. Check out what we are learning about each day! All the best to you and your family!
