Our PTO room parents will be planning holiday class parties prior to our break. The parties will take place on Friday, December 20 from 2:30–3:15pm. Thank you, parent volunteers, for making this a fun time for the children.
This year ADE’s PTO will be hosting their Holiday Shoppe on Dec. 17 & 18. Students will have time during the school day to shop for gifts for their parents, siblings, teachers, grandparents, aunts and uncles and friends. On December 17th the Holiday Shoppe will also be open in the evening from 4:30 to 6:30pm if you want to bring your other children to shop.

The Carped Diem string quartet will be visiting Alton Darby on December 6th. They will hold 3 performances for grades 3-5. PNC ArtsAlive presents Carpe Diem eStage is a new series of live streaming musical events showcasing Carpe Diem String Quartet and guests in specially-designed musical programs that are fun, informative and relevant to core academic subjects that all students are studying.
These events are not only for viewing, but for interacting as well! Viewers can chat in real time and ask questions that Carpe Diem will respond to during the webcast. All events will take place in front of a live audience, and we invite you to become part of our “virtual” live audience.

Carpe Diem will present “Ancient Sounds and Folklores”
Evoking the mystical sounds of the Andes and the lavish and dreamy music of Imperial Russia, Carpe Diem String Quartet will explore the folk instruments and sounds of Peru and show how they inspired the work: “Leyendas: An Andean Walkabout” by Gabriela Frank. Juxtaposed to the rustic and multi-phonic sounds of Leyendas will be the rich harmonies, melodies, and dances of romantic Russia. Sergei Taneyev’s 9th quartet brings to life many of the magical fairytales of the East. Specters of popular Russian fairytales, of Clara and the Nutcracker Prince, mix with those of legendary Chasqui runners and criers of the Incan Empire in this December sonic extravaganza.
This program will stimulate students’ curiosity about geography, history, folklore and music in faraway cultures.
Come be a part of the last eStage show of the year!
