Outdoor Classroom
Through the generosity of Lowe’s Toolbox for Education and The Greater Columbus Arts Council, Alton Darby Elementary has been granted money for the creation of an outdoor garden classroom and patio space. The intention is that students and community from Alton Darby and its surrounding schools can build it from the ground up! Our vision is a outdoor learning environment for the students and the community.
The first phase of the project is the seating and open patio space of the outdoor classroom. Future phases of the plan may include composting, frog pond, butterfly and perennial gardens. All of these plans are to be developed by the vision of the students and community.
We need your support!
Alton Darby’s students, parents, teachers, staff, alumni, and & friends are invited to make their mark and leave a legacy. You can personalize a brick paver for $50.00 to be used as the foundation for the Outdoor Classroom.
These bricks are an ideal way to show support of Alton Darby, honor a current student or alumni, remember a special occasion, or give as a gift. Outdoor classroom and brick paver installation is planned for spring ’09. The profit from the sale of these bricks will be used on the completion of the outdoor classroom project.
