Volunteer Information

The Alton Darby PTO is always looking for volunteers for our various committees, projects and special events. Please contact the Chair of the committee for more information.

Activites at Alton Darby happen because of our parents’ dedication and willingess to volunteer their time. Please contact Joy Cline at 314-6822 if you are interested in one of the below positions.

 

Regularly Scheduled Commitments

Publishing Shop: Totally supported and staffed through PTO.  The Publishing Shop gives ADE students an opportunity to publish their literary works.  Open based upon volunteer sign-up.  You may volunteer your time in one-hour blocks weekly or monthly as your time permits.

Shoebox Science: Science Experiment program for K-3 Students.  Help fill boxes with supplies.  Times may vary.

Market Day: Organize and fill monthly orders.  Volunteer one night/month from 5:30-7:00 pm.

General School Volunteer: Help in the Media Center (library), office chores, kindergarten screening, picture day, book room and other general assistance as needed.

 

Projects and Special Events

Book Fair:  Assist with the annual book fair in mid-winter by helping students with book selection and sales.  Volunteer your time during school hours and one evening during a week period.

Fundraising:  Assist with fundraising activities, distribution and follow-up calls.

Spirit Nights: Organize fundraising events with local restaurants (community partners).  Duties to include distribution of fliers/coupons to students prior to each event; collecting receipts and submission to the Community Partner.

Spring Family Fun Fest:   Help plan our annual spring family day.  This is an event full of games, raffles, crafts, inflatables, food and silent auction.  Planning can be done from home.  Event day volunteers needed in 2 hour blocks.

Fifth Grade Recognition:  End of year recognition event for graduating fifth graders.  This committee plans and organizes the event with 4th grade students being a part of the celebration.  Memory books, Pizza Party and Recognition event defines this event.  Time commitment varies.  Planning and Memory Books can be done from home.

Holiday Shoppe:  Help with annual holiday shopping event.  Assist students with gift selection and purchases. Two days and one evening volunteer opportunities.

Hospitality:  Cook, bake or provide items for special events.  Provide refreshments for any ISPTO or HCSD Board meeting that ADE hosts.

Logowear Sale:  Help coordinate the orders and distribution of logowear.

Field Day:   Assist with various games (including water) and inflatable actitivies in May.  2-1/2 hour volunteer opportunities in the morning and afternoon.

Art Room Help:  Help the Art Teacher during school hours, afternoon and evenings as needed.

Musical Help:  Help the Music Teacher as needed with props/costumes and any other music room needs.  Volunteer from home, evenings and school hours.

Room Parent:  Coordinate Holiday and End-of-Year parties for your child’s classroom.

Family Social Events: Help coordinate, plan and volunteer at school social events, which include the Fall Tailgate Party in October and the End-of-Year Luau Picnic held in May.  Volunteer opportunities in the evening

Family Movie Night: Help coordinate and plan movie night at school.

 

Family Game Night: Help coordinate and plan game night at the school.

Staff Appreciation:  Assist with providing meals for staff during parent/teacher conference weeks in November and February.  Also assist with planning luncheon activities and providing special pampering for staff during National Staff Appreciation Week held during the first week of May.

Playground/Garden:   Be part of a committee by helping plan and implement changes and improvements to ADE playground, walking path and garden.

Walk-A-Thon: Help coordinate, plan and volunteer at the annual fundraiser event. Collect pledge sheets, tally donations, coordinate prizes for classrooms and students. Volunteer from home, evenings and school hours.

Parent Liaison Programs

Campbell’s/Boxtops for Education: Help clip, trim and bundle boxtops and UPC labels for submission.  Volunteer from home.
